My Favorite Things (Part 2)

Soothing Seaside Palettes

 My family loves the beach and when the weather’s nice, we’re there as often as we can.  At home, I’ve incorporated those seaside colors into our decor- faded aqua…sea greens…oyster grey…with heavy doses of white, to create a seaside oasis at home.  Add weathered wood floors, natural fiber carpets and some wicker and beach glass, and you’ll be feeling that laid-back, coastal vibe.

My Favorite Things (Part 1)

A few weeks ago, my two oldest children were in their school musical production of “The Sound of Music”.





After countless hours of practicing, the students put on three amazing shows.  “The Sound of Music” has always been a family favorite, so they were thrilled to be playing the parts of Rolf and Marta.

 

 

For months, the musical numbers have been heard in our home.  There has been more than one occasion where I wake up with “Do-Re-Mi” running through my head or catch myself humming “My Favorite Things”!   So with that song in mind, here are a few of MY favorite things...when it comes to homes & gardens.

Boxwoods

I love their dark glossy leaves.  They bring structure to your garden, look great in pots, and work well as a hedge.  My garden is full of them!  Did you notice the boxwoods in the photos of the houses above?  Two of my "favorites" combined!

Welcome to the lifestyle blog for Summerland Homes & Gardens!  I’m so glad you found me!  I have always loved interior design and gardening.  I obsess over paint samples, fabric swatches and my roses in bloom.  I love DIY projects, getting my hands in the dirt, and planning a special dinner for friends.   My mind is constantly in “design mode” and I am always inspired by beautiful things, no matter how “ordinary” they may be.  Over the last several years, I have been inspired by so many of the creative & talented women who have design/lifestyle blogs.  It is my hope that I can leave you with a little inspiration as well, while sharing my creative projects.  

 I recently launched my own business, Summerland Homes & Gardens, which offers design services for both indoor and outdoor spaces.  With Spring’s arrival, many homeowners are looking to refresh both their homes and yards.  I am already working on several projects and look forward to sharing those with you soon!
